Ditto for heron, willow and even dandelion. Instead, techno-terms such as MP3 player, blog and broadband are deemed relevant to kids under eight.
Some advocates of outside play view the changes as one more challenge in the battle between green spaces and screen spaces.
There is something called "Nature Deficit Disorder." According to some, kids today suffer from this because they don't get outside enough. I saw it on Global News.
