Yearbook Survey

Time for another quick survey. Please answer the following. We will use this input to help decide whether we should create another Haultain yearbook for 2010-2011. Don't forget to click on the 'submit' button after making your choices.

Last year the yearbooks were $20.00. You can see examples of the possibilities here, click on the button labeled 'View Yearbook Galleries'.

Thank you to everyone who answered the survey regarding the sign. You can still answer the survey here.

Here is the breakdown so far:

38% want to replace rails/letters/refurbish wood
32% want a new steel sign
14% want the letters and rails only
8% want the wood refinished only
8% chose "other" with suggestions as follows:

"does it really need doing? it looks fine to me?", "replace only the letters that need to be replaced and replace the rails", and "sign is fine. the playground needs upgrading we need to save for that"

As I said, you can still answer the survey and the final results will be presented to the PA as part of the agenda just before we vote.

Coco Brook Fundraiser

The Spring Fund Raiser went off without a hitch thanks to the efforts of Kristie and Monika and the rest of the volunteers - thank you.

Micro Survey 10-01: School Yearbook

We have an opportunity to create a yearbook for the students this year. It will take some volunteer work and would probably need some monetary input from parents. The PA could subsidize part of it depending on the level of interest and how a vote may go - please fill out this survey to let us know if its something worth pursuing. This isn't a vote or a final

At our last meeting Kristie gave a final tally on her first fund raising effort for the PA. The only way to describe it is: an unmitigated success. Over $2200.00 was raised! Thank you Kristie, great job.

Here is the result of the latest survey on Values. Mr. Barkley was hoping for input into the values in focus for the rest of the school year. This is the break down by percentage of those values chosen. Thank you to everyone who responded. Micro Survey 09.01 Results

In our first survey of the year, we asked for input on your fundraising preferences. Here are the results:

1: Door - to - door sales = 0%
2: In-school ordering (catalogue sales,SUTP,basket raffles) = 69%
3: Activities (bottle drive, bake sales, school wide garage sale = 31%
4: With one 'Other' = "Dance-A-Thon"

As much as I would like to witness some or your performances during a dance-a-thon, I'm not sure how much traction that idea would gather - thanks for the suggestion though.

Micro Survey #3: Results

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the latest survey. A tough question with many factors and affecting guiding principles involved. Some very thoughtful comments were contributed as well, some of which I've posted here. The question; "Do you think parents should be specifically informed when evolution is being taught in school?" The results: Yes 68% and No 32%, comments:

- If we need to be informed about evolution, we should also be informed when creationism is being taught.They are both theories and no evidence enough to support either.

- I caught a conversation about this bill on 1010 yesterday and I would not hogtie my kids' teachers that way. Even if I were to hold a different opinion than what was being taught I would be grateful to the educational system for broaching the subject and opening the door for an intellectual family conversation.

- I think if parents need to know when evolution is taught it gives them a reason to sit their kids out and if that's the case then those children should go to a catholic school or a school that teaches creationism.

Thanks to all who responded; here are the results to the question "How would you like to receive Mr. Barkley's monthly Haultain Newsletter". Email was the largest preference at 55% with Hard Copy and Website coming in at 19% and 17%, with the Blog coming in at 9%. I'm sure Mr. Barkley will be relieved to know that "I never want to see it again." came in at 0%. Keep up the good work Mr. Barkley!

Pending approval and based on this survey, we will likely be sending the newsletter out in all digital formats. I'm sorry to all the people who wanted a hard copy but the CBE has asked all schools to try as hard as possible to cut back on paper usage. That being said, I will have a couple of hard copies of the newsletter available at each Council meeting from now on - so all you paper lovers come out to the meeting and pick up your newsletter.

Micro Survey #1: Result

Thank you for answering the micro survey question from last week. Its helpful to know how people feel about programming.

The results show that Alien In-line remains very popular. 82% of you reported that 'The whole family enjoyed it' and 64% chose 'Lets do again before the end of the year'. Some of the highlights from the 'comments' section:

"We just moved to Calgary from the UK in late January so it was a good fun evening for us and it was good way to meet other parents..."

"We loved it! The kids look forward to it every year!"

"...always a big hit."

"...lets mix it up and do something else just as awesome..."

"I had a great time blading... one of the suggestions from my kids was that there should be a beginner's skate followed by and advanced or intermediate skate... to reduce the risk of injury."
