School Zone Safety - A Friendly Reminder

This is a reminder that there is a large length of road in front of our school that is a 30 Km/H zone for the bulk of the day. We also have two cross walks that we can't park near at any time of day, and there is no parking in front of the school before 5pm. Just a friendly reminder that infractions in these areas can be very expensive!

  1. I see people park in the cross walk zone almost daily. A child doesn't have a chance to get across the street safely when cars are parked there. A driver just can't see a little person at a crosswalk when another car is in the way. By the time a child would step out, it could be fatally too late! As a driver, I always slow right down at those crosswalks, to make sure there is noone trying to cross. It freaks me out and I don't know how there has been no accident so far!!!

  2. True enough Roxane, its very easy to park too close to the crosswalk. I think the convenience outweighs the potential danger in some people's minds. Our patrol sometimes has difficulty with these cars as visibility is greatly reduced.
