Working moms' kids less healthy: study (Australian Broadcasting Corporation )

Children of working mothers are more likely to have an unhealthy lifestyle than children of stay-at-home moms, suggests a U.K. study.

But experts are quick to point out that the blame should not be heaped on parents, and suggest more be done to support working families.

The research, led by Dr. Catherine Law of the Institute of Child Health at the University College London, England, examined more than 12,500 five-year-olds who were part of the UK Millennium Cohort Study.

  1. Other than the obvious controversy; I'd like to highlight the subtext of this article as well - it kind of burns me. Why is it accepted that the mothers are the "gatekeepers of their children's health"? Why can't the dad's of two income families keep the gate a little too?

  2. All the power to women who can pull off a career and take care of a family! As a stay at home mom, I don't know how working moms do it. Way to go to those women that can.
