January's Key Communiqué

Welcome Back and Happy 2010! I hope you had a restful and enjoyable holiday.

System Meeting IMPORTANT UPDATE:

The System Information Session scheduled for January 27th at Central Memorial High School has been CANCELLED due to a conflicting CAPSC meeting scheduled for the for the same evening.

At this time I do not have an alternate date scheduled for the Trustee meeting, but will let you know the date as soon as we have it secured (We’re expecting to have it finalized by next week).

December 2009 Trustee-zine:

In this issue, read about Board recommendations to the Alberta government on possible budget cuts, the ways in which schools are improving their PAT results, major awards received by the CBE and recent action taken on bullying.

Kindergarten registration for the 2010/11 school year begins on January 11, 2010. Click here for more information.

Key Communicator Steering Committee:

There are two vacancies (Areas II & IV) for the Key Communicator Steering Committee this year. If you are interested, please email me for details.

Excellence in Teaching Awards:

Nominations are open for the 2010 Excellence in Teaching Awards until February 5, 2010.

We encourage you to recognize your dedicated teachers and principals for the exceptional work they do.

CAPSC:

CAPSC is Calgary’s city-wide, public school parent association. CAPSC’s primary goal is to keep parents up to date and involved in their children’s education, and to help make individual school’s Parent Councils as effective as possible. CAPSC provides parents with resources, learning and sharing opportunities. They represent parent concerns to the CBE and all levels of government.
